In 1969 an American Legend was born in 188th St, Aventura, Florida, later known as the notorious Thunderboat Row.
Don Aronow having already built and sold Formula, Donzi, and Magnum Marine founded the World famous Cigarette Racing Team.
Since 1969, the dedicated people at Cigarette Racing Team have focused on building the finest high-performance boats the world has ever known. That’s why “Cigarette” has become a generic term for a performance boat. But the truth is there’s nothing like – and never will be anything like – a Cigarette.
There are 115 people working at the Cigarette Racing Team. From lamination to systems rigging. Each individual shares the same passion for perfection and performance, and that passion bonds them as a team. If you don’t have that passion, if good enough is, indeed, good enough, then you can’t work here.
Accountability on the part of each employee, as well as dedication to the company mission of building truly legendary performance boats is integral to our ongoing success. This unique level of company-wide commitment is matched by our commitment to maintaining excellent relationships with our key vendors, suppliers, and loyal customers.
Cigarette Racing Team truly is a family. Each family member shares the same goal. Each family member shares what some might call an obsession, but we call a passion to detail and quality. And yet we all know we can continue to refine our products and construction processes. We continue, as one of our team members said recently, “to build a better boat.”

Proof of this is the release of the New 46ft AMG Cigarette Racing boat released at the 2010 Miami Boat show. A collaboration between Cigarette and Mercedes Benz AMG racing department. The boat has two Mercury Racing engines, capable of developing 1,350 HP each, so it results a total of 2,700 HP. The nautical “rocket” have not yet been tested, but its creators say it can easily reach 113 knots (130 mph), a tremendous speed on water
Of course we are not just dedicated to creating new models—we’re heavily invested in improving and upgrading our immaculate plant, which has grown to 150,000 square feet. We are adding skilled employees to our team, and through intensive hands-on training raising their skill levels (after all, there is the way everyone else builds boats, and the way Cigarette Racing Team does).
By improving production quality and utilizing advanced engineering, we are constantly raising the bar on our own products. Again, status quo just doesn’t fly here.
Our objective has been—and will forever be—to create superior offshore powerboats boats that live up to Cigarette’s unrivaled reputation for performance, dependability, and value. That goal drives us, much as it drove Don Aronow, the founder of this company. In our commitment to this goal, we honor his memory, gain our own sense of accomplishment, and continue to build legendary products.
Created in the 20th Century by Don Aronow but coming of age in the 21st Century under the guidance of Cigarettes CEO Skip Braver. Long may it continue and keep up the good work Skip.
